According to the report, the two sides are striving to maintain bilateral and trade relations. In the meantime, however, Morocco reportedly insisted that the continuation of the bilateral agreement require a stronger and more real commitment from Turkey. Yaouhi believes the new draft agreement aims to protect emerging industries and allow them to adapt to market conditions and gain strength before facing potential competitors, indicating that tariffs alone will not protect emerging industries that would need additional support. Mohamed Yaouhi, an economics professor, told Arab Weekly that Morocco had suffered from the fraudulent activities of Turkish companies exporting products from third countries.
